Ask A Conservator Day 2024
Each year in November, conservators worldwide hold #AskAConservator day to remember the flooding of Florence on November 4th, 1966, which damaged priceless cultural heritage. However, in response to the catastrophe, incredible efforts were made—and are still being undertaken—to conserve the items impacted by the flood. The disaster sparked many conservation careers as more people became aware of the field and the many aspects of preservation.
A global online event
The American Institute for Conservation (AIC) has launched this campaign to foster knowledge sharing between conservators and the public worldwide. Each November, the AIC hosts Ask a Conservator Day, a global event that invites open discussions on all aspects of conservation. This initiative allows conservation and preservation experts to showcase the remarkable efforts our community makes to safeguard cultural heritage. This initiative enables conservation experts to share their work and inform the public about the vital role of conservation.
