Working at SRAL

SRAL has a diverse team of conservators, ranging from junior to senior levels, including those with temporary appointments for specific projects. We also frequently collaborate with independent conservators both within and outside our areas of specialization. Additionally, we offer opportunities for interns and fellows to gain valuable work experience and become integral members of our dynamic team. Please see the available opportunities below.

For certain projects, we collaborate with freelancers to bring in specialized expertise that may not be available within our permanent team. These freelancers work closely with our in-house staff, contributing their skills and knowledge to ensure the success of our projects.

Currently, there are no open fellowship positions at SRAL.

SRAL regularly offers fellowships for conservators who have graduated from accredited restoration programs. If you are a newly graduated conservator passionate about preserving cultural heritage, a fellowship at SRAL presents an excellent opportunity to advance your skills and gain valuable experience.

Each year, we offer fellowships for conservators with a master’s degree from an accredited restoration and conservation program. As a fellow at SRAL, you will gain supervised experience in one of our departments, including paintings, polychrome sculpture, or historical interiors.

Fellowships last for 12 months, during which you will receive remuneration equivalent to the minimum wage. You will receive support and guidance as you contribute to exciting projects.

Fellowship positions are available annually, depending on ongoing projects. Please check our website and social media channels for updates and announcements.

Each year, SRAL offers internships for conservators-in-training who need to complete a short-term practical internship as part of their bachelor's or master's program.

Internships are available only to candidates from accredited programs. The duration of the internship is flexible and will be arranged between the candidate and the internship supervisor. Interns are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and living expenses. European students may be eligible for funding through Erasmus scholarships.

To apply, candidates should submit a motivation letter, a CV, and a letter of recommendation from their study supervisor. Please indicate your preference for one of the following restoration departments: paintings, polychrome sculpture, or historical interiors.
