Restoration specialists
SRAL is a dynamic conservation studio with a multidisciplinary team of conservators who specialize in various fields, including polychromed sculptures, paintings on different supports, modern art, murals, and historical interior spaces.
Over the past 35 years, we have gained extensive experience in a wide range of projects, from individual paintings to comprehensive interior restorations. Our diverse disciplines reinforce and complement each other, enabling us to provide a comprehensive and integrated approach.
Through our numerous practical projects, we continually encounter concrete issues. SRAL excels in connecting these issues with theoretical knowledge and research, allowing us to develop and implement innovative solutions.

Limburgs erfgoed
SRAL en Coöperatie Erfgoed Limburg (CEL) werken nauw samen om provinciaal erfgoedbeleid te bespreken en aan te sluiten op de behoeften van erfgoedprofessionals in Limburg. CEL is een samenwerkingsverband van erfgoedinstellingen, musea en andere collectiebeherende instellingen in Limburg, gericht op het behoud, de promotie en de ontwikkeling van het cultureel erfgoed in de regio. CEL vormt diverse werkgroepen die zich bezighouden met verschillende aspecten van erfgoedbehoud en -promotie, zoals het organiseren van evenementen en het uitvoeren van onderzoek. Een terugkerende activiteit is het erfgoedweekend, waarbij verschillende erfgoedinstellingen openstellen voor het publiek en speciale evenementen worden georganiseerd om de rijke geschiedenis en cultuur van Limburg te belichte

Bonnefanten
In het Bonnefanten bevindt zich een bijzondere ruimte: het open atelier van de SRAL. Hier kunnen bezoekers live de omvangrijke restauratiecampagnes volgen van kunstwerken uit de collectie van het museum of van andere instellingen. Het is een unieke kijk achter de schermen van het vak restauratie.

SBMK
SRAL werkt nauw samen met SBMK (Stichting Behoud Moderne Kunst) om expertise en middelen te bundelen voor het behoud van moderne kunstwerken. Deze samenwerking stelt beide organisaties in staat om kennis te delen, onderzoek te doen en richtlijnen te ontwikkelen die de duurzaamheid en het behoud van moderne kunst bevorderen.

Zuyd Hogeschool
Het Maastricht Institute of Arts bestaat 200 jaar in 2023 en presenteert in het Bonnefanten een aanzienlijk deel van haar collectie gipsen afgietsels: de Academische Gipsotheek Maastricht. De zeldzame collectie is met de oprichting van de Stadsteekenschool in 1823 ontstaan en telt nu ongeveer 500 stukken. Een veertigtal van deze gipsen afgietsels zijn door SRAL behandelt.

SRAL is internationally recognized as a leading authority in conservation and heritage preservation. We stay at the forefront of the latest developments in the field and disseminate this knowledge both nationally and internationally. SRAL provides academic lectures at the University of Amsterdam and Maastricht University, preparing the next generation of conservators and heritage professionals with comprehensive training.
We take pride in our significant role as knowledge-partner within the Province of Limburg, while continually expanding our influence and sharing our expertise.
Visibility and connection
SRAL actively promotes the visibility of the conservation profession, driven by our strong belief in knowledge sharing. Our conservation studio on the first floor of the Bonnefanten Museum allows the public to observe restoration work up close. Additionally, we share online stories about our restorations, with a particular focus on Limburg, to help keep heritage alive.
SRAL is a member of various cultural and knowledge networks, where we contribute our expertise and collaborate with other institutions.
