Corporate art collections and art collections housed at instutions such as universities and hospitals are usually on permanent display. The collected works are often very diverse and include paintings, sculptures, photographic art, prints and modern installations. The collections are typically located in buildings that lack special museum conditions and which are also accessed by a great variety of individuals. This basic situation requires a different approach towards conservation and collection management than what we are used to in the museum environment. Using 'quick scan' assessement SRAL makes an inventory of the collection’s condition and ascertains the risks of certain locations for specific artworks. A more extensive condition survey is also possible. Then, concrete advice is given and/ or a treatment plan is drawn out. SRAL can also develop a long term maintenance plan for your collection. Should conservation or restoration interventions be required, they can be performed either on site or in the studios in Maastricht
